If you've spent a lot of time around motorcycle riders, you may have heard the phrases "shiny side up" and/or "rubber side down."  Both basically refer to keeping the motorcycle upright and in pristine condition.  Shiny Side Up top coat and Rubber Side Down base coats work similarly!

The first step in a manicure should be to apply a base coat to protect your nails from discoloration (some highly pigmented polishes can stain your nails!) and help your polish adhere to your nail.  Rubber side down is a sticky type base coat which will hold tight to both your nail and the polish above it.  It dries fairly quickly so you can get right down to adding color!

The last step in a proper manicure is applying a quality top coat to add gloss and prolong the life of your mani! Shiny Side Up is a high-shine, non-yellowing cop coat that not only dries quickly itself, it will help the layers of polish you've added dry more quickly as well.

Both are 5-free, meaning they do not contain toluene, formaldehyde, camphor, formaldehyde resins or dibutyl pthlalate (DBP),

Older collections may come in 15mL /5mL bottles. New collections come with 14mL full size and 9mL mini bottles. A good base and top coat is recommended to maintain the life of your manicure and to prevent staining from highly pigmented polishes. Since I hand make all polishes in small batches, there may be slight variations, though I follow my recipes closely to prevent this. Colors may also vary due to different screen displays and due to the different lighting and equipment that is used to photograph them. Ingredients are listed in my frequently asked questions.
